Today, we honor Shri Laxmanrao Kashinath Kirloskar on Founders Day. Known as the pioneer of the Indian machine-tool industry, he revolutionized Indian agriculture by manufacturing the country’s first indigenous iron plough in 1888. Beyond engineering, he was a great social reformer who built Kirloskarwadi—one of India’s first planned industrial townships focused on worker welfare and equality.
