Founder’s Day on June 20, 2026, honors Shri Laxmanrao Kirloskar, the pioneer of India’s industrial revolution. Starting with a small bicycle repair shop in 1888, his visionary grit led to the iconic Kirloskar Group. He revolutionized Indian agriculture by manufacturing the country’s first indigenous iron plough, courageously breaking age-old farming superstitions.
In 1910, he established Kirloskarwadi, India’s first planned industrial township focused on employee welfare. A progressive social reformer, Laxmanrao banned untouchability in his factory and rehabilitated ex-convicts. His enduring legacy of self-reliance, innovation, and social compassion continues to inspire modern engineering.
